Cross-Cultural Pedagogy

Faculty Forum
March 7th, 12pm to 1pm

LIB C510

While most educators today recognize the value of diversity in the classroom, how it relates specifically to pedagogy often remains unclear. Does it pertain to course materials primarily or to the ethnic and gender composition of the class itself? It has become increasingly difficult to rely upon generalizations about students given that they’re just as likely to be diverse in—among other things— their interests and generational affiliations. In this workshop we’ll discuss these issues and share some strategies for helping students to recognize overlapping concerns and to promote cross-cultural learning.
